Hydroxycut
FDA Recalls Diet Pill Hydoxycut: Liver Damage
Hydroxycut is a non-prescription weight-loss supplement. This over-the-counter supplement is manufactured by Muscletech and was marketed for weight-loss, fat burner, energy supplement, low carb diet aid and water loss before it was removed from the stores. The diet pills were sold under other brand names as well such as Iovate and Muscle Tech. The FDA has issued a Hydoxycut warning and major Hydoxycut recall.
Many Hydroxycut products have been recalled by the FDA in mid 2009. The FDA felt this was necessary due to reports of liver dysfunction and death. The recalled Hydoxycut items include:
- · Regular Rapid Release Caplets
- · Caffeine-Free Rapid Release Caplets
- · Hydroxycut Hardcore Liquid Caplets
- · Max Liquid Caplets
- · Regular Drink Packets
- · Caffeine-Free Drink Packets
- · Hardcore Drink Packets (Ignition Stix)
- · Hydroxycut Max Drink Packets
- · Hydroxycut Liquid Shots
- · Hardcore RTDs (Ready-to-Drink)
- · Max Aqua Shed
- · Hydroxycut 24
- · Carb Control
- · Natural
The two Hydroxycut products that were NOT RECALLED include:
- · Hydroxycut Cleanse
- · Hoodia Products
Since Hydroxycut did not require a prescription, anyone could buy these products for any purpose they wanted. Many consumers used this product in ways it was not intended. It has been reported that those consumers that used this supplement for weight-loss experienced little to no weight decrease. Others used this supplement to excess and often experienced adverse side effects. In a small percentage of users, side effects were severe and long-lasting requiring long-term medical treatment.
Hydroxycut Side Effects
Beyond liver dysfunction, other Hydroxycut side effects were reported that include:
- · seizures
- · cardiovascular problems
- · nausea
- · vomiting
- · fatigue
- · weakness
- · abdominal pain
- · itching
- · loss of appetite
- · light-colored stools
- · rhabdomyolysis (muscle damage)
If you have any of the above listed recalled Hydroxycut products you should stop using them and make sure to return them to the place where you purchased them. The FDA doesn't know which ingredients or dosages are associated with health risks at this time since they contain a wide range of ingredients and herbal extracts. This is a very serious FDA Hydroxycut warning !
The FDA has released a Hydroxycut warning to the public after that they found 72 over-the-counter pills that have the potential to adversely affect the health of consumers.
