Poligrip Warning And Lawsuit Announced

Poligrip, manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), has been linked to zinc poisoning.  Clinical studes indicate leads to permanent neurological damage.  This is also true of Fixodent and any other generic denture creams that contain zinc.  Intake of excessive amounts of zinc creates a copper deficiency that leads to serious medical conditions.  If you have experienced neurological complications from using denture creams, contact a denture cream attorney to find out your rights and see if you qualify for a Poligrip Lawsuit

Poligrip Poisoning occurs with excessive long term use of this denture cream due to exposure to high concentration of zinc which can generate nervous system damage.  Symptoms associated with nervious system damage induced by Poligrip Posioning include:

  • Tingling and/or numbness of your extremities
  • Overall weakness or loss in strength
  • Walking problems
  • General loss of balance
  • Inability to move arms and legs properly

At the moment, the FDA has not issued any formal warning about denture creams.  However, the FDA is considering placing a 'Black Box' warning on denture creams that contain zinc.  If you are a denture wearer, make sure to keep up on the latest information on Fixodent and Poligrip Poisoning bulletins put out by the manufacturers and the FDA.  GSK has already decided to stop manufacturing denture creams with zinc to circumvent the issue altogether.  This took place in early 2010.  If you have experienced nervous system symptoms while using zinc containing denture creams, you should contact an attorney to see if you qualify for a Poligrip Lawsuit.

Millions of people around the world have dentures and use some form of denture adhesive and are at risk of Poligrip Poisoning.  Make sure to read all instructions thoroughly and follow them properly.  If you are using a tube or more per week, you are using too much increasing your risk for zinc poisoning.  One tube should last anywhere from three to ten weeks.  Dentures should be replaced every few years to ensure a proper fit.  All too often, patients don't get new dentures because they can't afford them.  As a consequence, they use more and more denture cream to hold them in place causing them to ingest excessive amounts of denture cream containing zinc.  If you or someone you love has suffered from Poligrip Poisoning or other denture cream poisoning, contact a Poligrip lawyer to discuss your rights and the possiblity of a Poligrip Lawsuit.

The FDA does not require manufacturers to tell the consumer of the potential for zinc poisoning with excessive long term use of denture creams that contain zinc so the public had no way of knowing.  However, GSK has taken initiative to produce a Consumer Advisory Warning about the potential adverse side effects when using zinc-containing adhesives.  If you have been a long time user of denture creams including Poligrip and Fixodent you may qualify for a Poligrip Lawsuit or Fixodent Lawsuit.
